Daniel Sheflin - Vice President at Honeywell, Energy Innovator
As vice president of technology and automation control solutions with Honeywell International Inc., Daniel Sheflin oversees thousands of engineers as they work on a variety of new products. Under Daniel Sheflin’s leadership, the number of new products Honeywell has been able to introduce has significantly increased, development times have reduced, and new heights of quality have been met.
Before taking on this position at Honeywell in 2001, Daniel Sheflin worked for five years at General Electric, where he served as the general manager of engineering within the corporation’s Locomotive Division. During this time, his work focused on designing an efficient locomotive.
A 1978 graduate of the University of Buffalo, Daniel Sheflin met high standards for excellence in the field during his time in college as well. He graduated in the top 10 percent of his class, participating in the American Society of Mechanical Engineering and paying his own way through college. He later went on to receive a master's degree in control engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Mr. Sheflin was selected in 2010 as chair of the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Smart Grid Advisory Committee, a group dedicated to modernizing and securing the power grid in the United States. He has also been involved in the development the Honeywell Wind Turbine, which is noted for its ability to decrease residential utility costs by up to 18 percent.
